I am amazed at the poor reviews. My son gave me these knives as a Christmas gift over 10 years ago and I still think it's the best present I ever got. I use them almost every day. I have always washed them by hand, that may make a difference, I don't know. I have never had to sharpen any of the knives, I've even used the knives to cut through bones and frozen meat. My scissors did break one time about 2 years ago, I had no problem with getting it replaced. Yes, I did have to pay a shipping charge, wish I didn't have to do that, but it was worth it to have that scissors back again. The scissors works so good that I hated it during the time I had to send the broken one back and get the new one.

Several of my handles have cracked in half and broken off. The rivets have been our biggest problem. They fall out. I would never buy from them again. Very cheap product.

Have these knives for at least 10 years. Not high quality, but serve their purpose, you get what you pay for. Am still using most after all this time, and they work fine. For the price they are ample.

I have had my set for over 6 years and I'm surprised by the negative reviews here. I favor my paring, cleaver and bread knife and would say I use them regularly. I use the bread knife to cut both frozen and cooked meats, too. Heck, it works great for sawing through chicken bone. I haven't had a problem with dulling or anything of that nature. I am very please with my set. By the way, I use a wooden cutting board. Today I just bought another paring knife (15) because my hubby and I fight over the one I do have. This way he can have his own. (He tries to sneek mine to work, sometimes...lol) LOVE LOVE LOVE these knives.

Haven't had any problems with the large set of knives, but the handle cracked off on the shears when my wife was cutting the stems of daisys that I bought at WalMart.

Knives dull EXTREMELY FAST . The reviews on top are probably by ronco and the testimonial on the infomercial are probably had to be paid for . BTW , how do you choose the zero star ?

  9. On April 12, 2011  from CA wrote this review:

These knives got dull fast. Though we've tried, they will not get very sharp anymore. They also corrode easily & we can not get them clean. When we decided to take advantage of the "Lifetime Assurance of Performance" in which they state: "Just return the knife & we will replace it FREE OF CHARGE", we find out the real scam behind this company. They charge $2.50 PER KNIFE as a postage/shipping/handling charge. If we sent back our 25 piece set, that comes to $62.50. Well we can purchase the same set online for $34 & no shipping charges. Looks like Ronco doesn't actually replace the knives free of charge like they state. They definitely get their money (and then some) to replace knives. But believe me, we're not even spending the $34 online to buy the same cr*ppy set of knives. Don't waste your money on this product.

Ive had these knives for a few years now. Unfortunately, they stain in the dishwasher and a few of the plastic handles have broken! Ron has had a few great products like the showtime rotisseire which I have had and loved for years, but the knives don't cut it!!! he should have not put his name on these....

  12. On January 17, 2011  from WA wrote this review:

I managed to get a FULL refund, including all shipping costs...woo hoo! Like others, I placed the order, expecting to take advantage of the "easy" payment plan. I was so excited about having scored not one, but two sets of knives {one as a Christmas gift for my son, & one for little old selfish me}, that I didn't realize until after I hung up that they had said the first payment would be somewhere around $150. I called back immediately to cancel, & was told it was too soon, that I would have to wait 24 hours for the order to process through the system, & then, of course, they'd be happy to cancel. I waited 18 hours, & was told, also like others, that it was too late. But...all I had to do was to refuse the shipment, & everything would be fine, so I did. Nearly two weeks later, I received a "refund" of my first payment, $13.33. Although they had not shipped the order until a full 7 days after I was told it was already shipped, & was not allowed cancel, I was told it was my fault for not canceling it soon enough, & I was responsible for the exorbitant shipping rates. I was livid, & couldn't afford to have more than $100 hacked off my Christmas budget without having a gift to show for it. I contacted my states' Attorney General's office. They said they could not legally compel them to refund the money, even though it was clearly fraud, but that they would write to them & "suggest" that a refund would be appropriate. About a week later my credit card was debited in full, & the Attorney General forwarded a letter to me that they received from Ronco..."Gee, we're so sorry for any inconvenience we may have INADVERTENTLY caused, these things rarely happen, but when they do we're more than happy to make it right...blah, blah, blah, we're so full of it we really hope you're buying this...". Don't be afraid to get nasty with these jerks via other means. They're wrong, & they know it, & they'll buckle to avoid having unwanted attention to the fraud. The good news is that I see the knives on Amazon for $25 & free shipping now. Seems they can't even give them away.

These are decent knives. Maybe not professional grade but great for the average household. The ones I had stayed sharp. They are prone to some corrosion if not cleaned and dried soon after use. I recommend hand washing as well. The thinner knives in the set will warp in high heat.

We have had this set for over 2 years now and have not had any problems with them at all. My wife uses them every day. They work as well as most cutco knives at a fraction of the price. The only down fall is they get you on the shipping and handling.

I want to forewarn prospective purchasers of some problems they will encounter. 1. The LIFETIME WARRANTY is B.S. - try claiming on it! 2. The advertisement clearly states that the rivets securing the handles are magnificently secure - NOT SO - They are stuck-in, and fall out in dishwasher

These knifes look good at first, came very dull, there was no way to cut bread they way the TV infomercial showed. The wooden block is huge, made out of cheap pine and is only worth fire wood. DO NOT purchase them. As the infomercial said, tell a friend, YES! Tell them all this is a rip off

I've had this set for 2 years, and have yet to sharpen a knife. These knives are sharp, very sharp, and hold their edge well! I use the Chef's knife, bread knife, cheese knife, and paring knife daily, they're wonderful! The carving knife slices thru roasts like a hot knife thru butter! I do not allow the kids {teenagers all} to touch these knives! {Yes, they're that sharp!} And, I only use them on a wooden cutting board, and clean them immediately after use with warm soapy water, dry them and store them in a knife block.

2 sets for 3 payments of only $13.33 deal I couldn't resist the superior claims on the info-mercial, cheap cost, etc., and finally placed an order. Firstly, the Wooden Block Holder weighs a ton and takes up a lot of space. It is also cheap looking next to higher end cabinets, appliances. The knife set deal (which supposedly includes knives that sell for $75 each) states you pay a little over a dollar per knife with their deal. They perform and last like knives that cost a dollar each, period. Easily dull, and pit. I was really looking for a few great chef quality knives. I hate cheap knives. These are cheap knives and NOT chef quality. If you don't mind Dollar store type knives, they are fine. If you are expecting quality, buy 1 or 2 quality chef knives. Shipping was $40. I have also heard of many persons getting charged repeatedly, esp if paying by paypal or using the 3 payment plan. Ronco will also only replace a knife when u send yours back & you pay for all ship/handling for both mailings. Beware and be warned.

I recieved the Ronco Six Star Cutlery knives with the large knife block for Christmas. The knives have very cheap handles, rust after just one washing, and the set came missing 2 knives. Customer service is horrific. I waited for 20 minutes for a representative who barely spoke English and discovered that they want to charge me $5.00 shipping for each knife. The set looks impressive at first- just looking at the sheer number of knives, but once you work with them you will be quick to realize they are cheap knives that dull quickley.
