I DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY PEOPLE SAY IT DOESN'T WORK. I HAVE NOTICED THAT PEOPLE ARE NOT USING THIS PRODUCT THE WAY IT IS SUPPOSED TO BE USED. CIRCULAR MOTIONS 3 TIMES IN ONE DIRECTION, THEN 3 TIMES THE OPPOSITE DIRECTION ON CLEAN DRY SKIN. IT'S THAT SIMPLE!!!! WORKS GREAT EVERY TIME!!!! MAKES MY SKIN SOFT AS WELL. I ALWAYS MOISTURIZE AFTERWORDS. I AM GOING TO TRY IT ON MY FEET, LIKE ONE REVIEWER POSTED, TO SEE IF IT GETS RID OF MY DRY SKIN ON MY HEELS!!!! I BET IT DOES!!!!!

I wish there was a zero star to rate this junk. If you rate it 2 stars or higher you are probably an ape or baboon and feel no pain. Got my money back minus shippping and handling but that alone is 10 times what this is worth so they are still making lots of money on suckers like me !

At first this product was great. I used it on my lip several times and it never burned. Today, I used it and my lip turned red and started to burn. It hasn't gone away - it was about half hour ago - but I cleaned it and put neosporin on it. It looks and feels like a first degree burn, which I have gotten on my lip from waxing. If this product is supposed to be pain-free, why does my lip now have a first-degree burn? Save your money and don't purchase this product.

With patience this is a pretty quick hair removal tool. It's not that good on the legs but it's useful for the arms. Once you use it, it will leave a white film on your arms and I just have to wipe that off my arms. One time I had left some spots undone and rinsed my arm. After I dried my arm, I used the smooth away to deal with the remaining spots. I found it removed those small patches even easier. This product is good but you have to be aware of irritation. I did not have that issue but I can see how other people with sensitive skin may have problems with this product.

That is my question. It didnt seem to work at all and it caused a burning sensation. Does it take a few times to work ?

I bought this at our local drug store, I tried it on my arms and nothing. It seems you have to have very fine hair for it to work. I took it back to the drug store and got a refund. I recommend you dont by it anywhere you cant take it back to.

i am only 11 and my mom doesn't want me to start shaving yet so i use depilatory but i got a rash from that so i was going to buy the no-no or get waxed but i didn't want to do that so i asked my mom to use the smooth away. i think it works great, but it takes forever and what is the point of wasting my time if i can't even wear my shorts because of the length.

I got this at a garage sale and no wonder! It didn't work at all, didn't remove any hair, but did exfoliate. I used it on my feet to remove the rough skin and it left them super soft! If you have cracked/rough feet I recommend it, otherwise, shave or wax.

this doesnt work on your upper lip because that is sensitive but it definately works on your legs and arms. ive been using it on only my legs for a year now and it takes about 5 to 10 minutes for each leg but if you do it every weekend or 2 times a week it is great. the first time it hurts a bit but your skin gets used to it and you cant rub too hard, the crystals are meant to BUFF the hair off not BEAT it off. be gentle but firm and dont rub too long in one area otherwise it gets red. i alternate between legs and areas and it works great. also the hair grows but pretty soft.

I think this is great for people like me. I am eleven and recently started "shaving". I had the fuzziest legs until now. It doesn't hurt and exfoliates your skin, too. I used it on my upper lip and some irritation occurred, though. Another non-good thing is that it doesn't remove ALL the hair and there is still a bit of stubble if you move your hands upward. Overall, I will use this for about another year and then switch to a razor. Four stars.

Smooth Away is not what its cracked up to be. I used it twice and it only removed about twenty percent of my leg hair. I am so disappointed in this product that I'm seeking a refund and will continue to hound the company until I get it. What a total worthless lying scam. I do not support such gimmicks, and am quite embarrassed that I fell for one that is so brazen.Dont buy this stuff!

This product can be good or bad. I tried it a year ago on my legs and I didn't like it because it took to long but it did work. As far as my face, well I was upset about a lingering burn and redness. About 2 weeks ago I decided to give it 1 more shot for my face only. I'm having some strange hormone imbalance & am dealing w/ a very small patch of chin hair. So the 1st time it burned and was red. I waited and 2 days later tried again, no more burn. My conclusion, most skin needs to get used to it. I do have to do it everyday but it is better than in grown hair. I wouldn't say I love it but it is working for now until I can permenantly remove the hair. I wish I could find something that lasted longer.

Smooth Away was given to me by my officemate. I like the idea of rubbing this pad to remove hair, but the problem is it barely works. I need to rub harder to get rid of facial hair. It also irritates my skin. My skin looks like drier than before. It feels like sandpaper. I'm not going to use it anymore.

I have been using this product for over a year now & am very pleased with my results, it's simple if you read the directions & do as it tells you, you will get the results you're looking for. I do not work for this company in any way, I work at a hospital and have recommended it to many people and they have all loved it as well. It's simple, read the directions, you don't need to apply a lot of pressure, just go in circular motions 3x one way & 3x the opposite way, if you do it right, you won't have any skin irritations nor permanent damage. If you rub to hard & cause a skin problem, clearly you haven't done something right. I have gotten my refills at any local pharmacy or drug store. The only problem I have ever had with this product is after my first use my upper lip was a little red but I applied an unscented facial lotion and it was fine and I havent had a problem with it since! Love this product!

I used the product, "Smooth Away," on my upper lip. I now have redness all over that area. It stings and burns. It is very noticeable, and guess what... I have to go to my uncle's lacrosse game and birthday dinner, in a few hours! I am going to have to miss them, if the redness does not go away! So, thank you so much "Smooth Away!" I give this product a negative 100 star.

I depend on this product everyday! I have PCOS which causes hormonal imbalances resulting in Hirsutism. I have had to deal with unwanted hair pretty much everywhere, but the worst area is on my chin, lip, cheeks and neck area. I often pluck the hairs on my chin/lip, but use this product in between to smooth away the awful prickly stubble. I follow the directions on the package exactly and it works great! It does make my skin red and can burn a little if you push too hard with it or when the pads get worn down too much. The redness isn't any worse than when I pluck. It is definitely worth it and beats shaving any day! It saves a LOT OF TIME when trying get ready in the morning. I found that it works best on shorter more stubbly hairs than longer hairs.

This thing is a piece of crap. One star is too generous. Just take a piece of leather and rub yourself raw for the same effect. They are only too glad to refund your purchase price (not shipping) without getting the item back because they are still making allot of money on it. So if you are still dumb enough to try it call and get your purchase price back and at least you won't be out the full amount you paid .

I bought this product today for $5 at CVS. At first it seems to remove the hair in a gentle easy way, after a while I began to feel my skin burning as I had to rub harder on my skin for it to work. It is very much like sand paper and leaves your skin very dry. I do not recommend this product and suggest sticking to shaving as it is the best way to get rid of unwanted hair. I hope that anyone thinking about buying this product will read the average reviews as they will save money, time and feeling pain. I hope this review has helped.

I purchased this for my daughter who detests shaving. She used it a few times, but said it took so long to use, she lost interest and began shaving again. She left it here after moving away to college, so I decided to try it. I actually liked it! It didn't take too long to remove the hair and exfoliate my legs. I tried it on my armpits, but they are very sensitive, so I was unable to use it there. But I did love how it worked on my legs!

It has been working great for me other than a very slight burning sensation right after. It was not bothersome and only lasted about 10 minutes. However I do not have sensitive skin at all though, so individuals with sensitive skin may only want to try it on a small part of the leg one day to ensure that it doesn't have a miserable reaction to it.

I have seen advertisements for Smooth Away for a while now on TV, and I didn't think they would actually work with the long, dark hair that has plagued my arms for most of my life. Today while I was at the local value store, I saw a package on clearance and figured the worst that would happen would be I wasted a couple bucks. Well I am in love! My arms have never looked better. It takes a few times going over the area for the hair to be removed, but it is very painless and easy. It took a couple pads to do an arm, but that would be expected with how thick the hair was. This product is amazing. As soon as we have lunch I am going back to town to grab the rest of the Smooth Aways that the store had. This product is a life changer.

Initial use left my chin red and burning for about 24 hrs. Then, after the redness was gone, along with the hair, it took about 2 days for my skin to get back to normal. I now do small touch ups with just a little redness appearing, so I do this before bedtime. It's so much easier than any other reasonably priced exfoliate. Glad I didn't chuck it.

Do not bother to buy this product. People that are saying "all you have to do is read the directions!" are wrong. After doing exactly what the directions said, the product removed absolutely NO hair at all (tried on my legs, arms, and upper lip- all with same result). The only way to get this to work on your legs is if you don't mind spending an hour on each leg to rub them raw. Sure, it removes your hair then...along with your skin as well. Rediculous, does not do anything it claims to do. Quick and pain-free? Yeah right.

I was sure to be very gentle, and barely put any pressure. It's been about 2 hours, since I tried it, hopefully the burn goes away soon, but I wouldn't really recommend it.

When I first bought it, I actually used it on my boyfriend. He has hair everywhere and its not thin. It worked after 3 minutes. This does work. However, its only a good use after the first time. When you reuse it will not be as effective so you have to rub harder, which is not good for your skin. If ur having a date over just shave, it'll save you time.

My grandma bought me the off brand of this and, while it worked great on my upper lip hair, my skin feels like it's on fire. I'm assuming it will stop by tomorrow. I've yet to use it on my arms and legs, however, it does seem like a common sense thing to trim it first. The only complaint I have for it is the burning sensation and how long it takes. However, now I don't have to worry about having more arm hair than my boyfriend.

Most people are commenting on the price and the bad service, however that's not the product. Smooth away actually does work, it takes a while to get every hair, but it is easier than shaving. I love smooth away and plan on buying it again, AT WALLGREENS\ANY DRUG STORE instead of the tv. obviously everything on the tv is a rip off because of the extra charges, save time and hit your nearest "as seen on tv" store or wall-greens. In conclusion, Smooth away is a okay product, i love, many others rather just use a razor.

The bad side it takes a bit longer than shaving but not as exagerated as the reviews I've read. With the results I've gotten (I have coarse hair)I don't mind the extra 5-10 min. For me it worked!!!

Wow. I just now read the reviews on this product. (Normally I read reviews before I buy, but hey-Walmart had it for $10.00, so what the heck.) I bought it a few months ago at Walmart and it is sitting in the bathroom drawer after two uses. I say two because I gave it a second time to do what it claimed to do. It failed. It worked about as well as the fine grade sandpaper that I have in the back cupboard and left the same results. Irritated skin, stubble and it took 3x as long as it would have taken me had I shaved with a razor! Maybe you'd like it if you didn't have a life and were looking for some way to fill up your time and were a masochist..…..

I bought this today when i went to target. it was only $10 and i had wanted to try it so i got it. i used it on my upper lip and some of the hair went away, but it left tiny bumps that went away after about 2 hours. i used it on my legs and i noticed that this product has a weird smell...it got my skin super smooth and soft, only because it rubbed all the hair off along with the top layer of skin. and i had to use this product for a long time to see good results. my legs went from having light hair, to patches of stubble, to a layer of short, very prickly stubble, to patches of that, and now my legs are now rediculously smooth and soft, but they sting and burn when i touch them. this product works, but it certainly isn't painless and takes a long time to get the job done. shaving is faster, but it wont make your legs as smooth and soft.

go to walgreens or as seen on tv store and they sell them for only $10. They work very well if you actually read the instructions and take the time to do it right. Yes, it takes like 30 minutes for each leg, but just watch tv and do it or watch a movie while doing it. I followed the directions exactly and had great results. I was very skeptical of this product (that's why it sat in the cupboard for months), but my legs are super smooth with no pain and no fuss. I got this in my stocking on Christmas. I was pleased because I had seen it on TV and wanted to see if Smooth Away actually worked and was painless as they said it was. It turns out that neither of these is true. It took at least 2 minutes to remove a 1 inch square patch of thin hair from my shin, and even then there was still stubble. This didn't hurt, but it was a lot slower than shaving. Then I tried it on my face and not only did it not work properly, it left a red, stinging rash on my upper lip. This product is a waste of time and money. I strongly encourage you to stay away from this product!!!

For the most part, Smooth Away worked on my legs, specifically my thighs, specifically the tops. That's probably where my hair is the finest, so thats why it worked. The first time i used this, I used it all over both of my legs and IT TOOK FOREVER! I had to go clockwise, then counterclockwise like 5 times each to get the hair off in one little spot. and the hair grew back very quickly overnight and it was like I never did anything. Make sure to put lotion on to keep the smoothness. Do not use on your armpits!!! It doesnt even work, and it irritates the skin like no ones business. I dont know why some people are saying its painful, because i haven't found that. The instructions say not to apply too much pressure, so i don't, and it doesn't hurt. I haven't used it on my face yet but im afraid to because everyone is saying it irritates and i have really sensitive skin on my precious face. This product does not work on the bikini line because the hair is too coarse. But maybe if you trimmed the hair first, it might work. Overall, i wouldn't recommend Smooth Away unless you have very fine hair and a whole lot of time and patience.

I bought Smooth Away for 9.99 from Walgreens and figured it was worth a try. I used it on my upperlip and it took care of it. The only con about using on your upper lip is that you get a slight "razor burn" from the friction and it gets a bit red. It was fine the next day though which is all that I cared about. I tried it on my legs and the result was the "day after you shave feel", so, I wasn't too impressed. All the product is, is a fine grit sandpaper...

I bought the product for $10 at Walgreens. It does not remove "instantly" as they advertise, but it does work. It works better on fresh pads (they do not last very long), it DOES exfoliate the skin, and makes skin smooth after applying lotion immediately after use....BUT you must follow directions carefully and have patience. Overall, in my personal opinion, it is good for a backup or alternative (outside of home or out of razors, etc), but I will still continue to use nair and/or razors.

I bought Smooth Away for ten bucks at Walgreen's. I have used just about every different method of hair removal at some point or another. Ultimately, Smooth Away DOES work. If you follow the directions to a tee and change the pads ALL the time it DOES remove hair. It takes a LOT of patience and WAY more pads than come in one kit if you are looking at doing an entire body. If you don't press hard enough to tear flesh from bone, it takes a LONG time. You have to practice the circular motions in each direction UNTIL the hair is gone. You can't just do it once. There's a question of surface vs. angle as well. If the pad is not at JUST the right angle, nothing is coming off. I'd also venture to guess that it doesn't work for ALL skin types. In the end, I would much rather just deal with waxing. My arms are less tired and it's faster. There are a few immediate benefits to Smooth Away, though. If you have the time, patience, and arm strength to get the job done, it IS pretty much painless. It DOES look nice when it works. If you are DETERMINED to make this work, I'd set your Pandora to "quick mix" and take the day off. You'll get there, but not without cursing everyone on the planet first.

This product is great if you love to spend an unnecessary amount of time to remove unwanted hair. It took me 15 minutes to finish one leg and it felt like I was sandpapering off my skin rather than the hair! And to make it worse, I had to change the pad 4 times each leg and I'm not even hairy. You know that commerical when the guy uses it on his HAIRY chest... That is a bunch of bull****. This cr**py little piece of paper is far from being able to remove gorilla hair from a dudes chest. Saw it in Target for $10 and thought let's try something new. This product is great if you want to EXFOLIATE your skin, but it's not good for hair removal. Sure, mine was removed from my legs, but it took much longer than shaving. It was pleasantly surprising to see the hairs go away painlessly, until a couple of hours later when there was a stinging sensation. Then the next morning I woke up to ingrown hair and STUBBLES. This Smooth Away product does not leave you hair SMOOTH at all! It's only good for around 2 hours, looks great and smooth. Then you see the real reactions. Wasing is the best method till date for smooth skin. Painful, but smooth.

I don't let my hair grow very long at all, so this product is great for me!

It basically works like sandpaper. uh, gross! imagine taking sandpaper and rubbing it on your body!!! :-P it leaves your skin super dry and irritated. Plus, your legs (or wherever you would use it) are all stubble-y.(Not smooth at all!) The box says: no pain, no chemicals, no razor burn. As for the no chemicals part, that may be true, but it definitely hurts and gives you razor burn. The box also says removes hair instantly! Shaving would be much faster and more easily done! It took me at least 30 minutes to get one leg done. This product is overall terrible. If I could rate it 0 or negative stars, I would! Smooth away doesn't work, so don't even think about buying it!

Horrible!!! Never recommend this product. Please take it out of market. As every women do, I was taken away by the reviews and advertisements though there are some negative feedbacks. I received it with more enthusiasm thinking that I never anymore going to waste money on buying razors and creams, but its not happened so. It is just a SILICON CARBID WATERPROOF ABRASIVE PAPER (written on back of the pads)that erode away your skin cells. People who using this look deeply after rubbing over your skin, it just takes away only the keratin in hair but not the hair itself by the way it gives the look that there is no hair in that area (believe me I exactly followed the instructions given). May be tends to remove hair only after a long painful rubbing, by that time the damage has already done to your skin. It takes nearly half an hour to work on a single hand. Better again I jumped back to razor and cream/waxing. The procedure is exactly how you are making a wooden surface smooth by rubbing it with the salt paper but unfortunately my skin is as hard as wood. After first application, my skin turned red, spots arose and itchy. I spent nearly 20 bucks on buying lotion to treat skin reddening and inflammation. Please do not get attracted to the few dollar product as it, at the end, is going to takes away hundreds of dollars in fixing the damage caused by smooth away. NEVER BUY! NEVER TRY! If you want to put yourself in trouble and pain, if you want your skin to turn worse or if you think you have much time to waste it’s the best way to get all. SMOOTH AWAY GETS EVERYTHING AWAY EXCEPT FOR THE HAIR!

Bought Smooth Away Vibrate from Wal-Mart for $12.88 + tax. Opened it up and the vibrator was unglued from the plastic pad with sticky goop everywhere. Followed the directions to a "T". They got it RIGHT using 3M for their stick on crystal pad...that worked great. Too bad the product didn't work as well. I spent 3 hours rubbing my legs to remove the hair. The pads are only good for about one leg. Although the kit came with 5 pads, they are used very quickly and replacement pads are not sold in stores. Hair was back the next day and repeated the process the next night. Better & longer results with Nair and a good ole-fashioned razor & gel.

I love this product!!! After costly laser for facial hair this product works very well. It must be a touch and go for some people. I am always a non believer as far as hair removal products go because hair is very difficult to get rid of. My face is very smooth and the hair is gone for about 1 week. Wish it would last longer but the product is still very good for me. It beats the $250 for a one time laser treatment and the hair comes back within 1 month.

Well I decided to get this product, I tried it out first on my legs, I had to rub it more than just 'smooth' it away. It was painless on my legs, and it took most of the hair off, but it still felt a bit prickly on some parts. I used the whole package for my legs, it's more of a one time use thing. Then I tried the smaller ones on my face, and it felt like it was rubbing off skin more than hair, it burned like hell for awhile.. I don't recommend this product for sensitive skin on the face area/leg area. I just have to wait now see how long it will last.

I was hesitant to try this product due to things I had heard. However, I finally sucked it up and got it. I have to personally say I love it. My skin is so sensitive that I can't even shave because it causes the most horrific things I won't even bother describing. I had tried everything for hair removal besides laser removal. I went home and followed the advice of going clockwise and then counterclockwise. The first time it did take a little longer but that is because I had not shaved in a long time. I also have thick dark hair. When I was done there was white stuff all over my legs. I took a shower to get the white powdery stuff off my legs and put lotion on when I finished. I run over my legs once a day to maintain them so that I don't have to commit a long time to doing it. I use the little one for touchups around my knee area/ankles. I have not tried them on my underarms or bikini area since for some reason I can use a razor on them. I would certainly recommend going to your local store and picking one up. Most have a money back guarantee so you don't have to worry about not liking it. Just like any product, it's not for anyone. I swear by it though!

I left the house one day without shaving, and in a pinch ( I had an engagement right after work, and would be unable to go home in between) I picked these up to take care of my stubble. It did what I needed it too, which was get rid of the stubble enough to be able to wear a skirt later. Would I relpace shaving with this, absolutly not, quite time consuming, sat at my desk most of the day using it when no one was looking. All in all, get this product only if you need to touch up your legs and can not make it to a bathroom.

I bought this product today. I really wish that I would have read the reviews in this prior to buying for 10 bucks. My face is in a load of pain. For those of you wanting to buy this save your money. Go to your home improvement store abd buy sand paper and rub on your arms, legs, and face and you will have the equivalent result of purchasing smooth away. And for a fraction of the price.

It was fun to experiment with and worth the $10 I paid for it.

I bought this at Walgreens for $9.99. It took about 10 minutes to do my upper lip, and it worked very well. My skin is very smooth, but I do recommend that you're careful not to apply too much pressure as part of my upper lip was red from using this. I think I just went over the area too many times. I'll definitely use this on my upper lip hair again, but I'm not so sure I think it would work on course hair as well. My niece told me it takes about an hour to do one leg with this product. I'll stick to shaving for that.

I bought a Smooth Away Vibe from a WalMart for $12.88. When I got home to try it out I was trying to read the very unclear instructions that they gave us and after I put the battery into the vibrate pod, it wouldn't work. So I figured I put in the battery wrong. I was trying for ten minutes to get the battery out but I couldn't and there was nothing in the directions about taking the battery out. So I looked up the customer service number online for Smooth Away. When I called there the lady told me that they only sell Smooth Aways, not Smooth Away Vibes and that she doesn't know how to use my product. Then I tried to look up the customer service number for the Smooth Away Vibe, and no luck. This product is a waste of money, time, minutes, and gas. DO NOT GET IT!!!

I bought the product at local pharmacy for $10.00 dlls. and it worked great. The problem is when your hair is to coarse or long it won´t work. I had previously had lazer removal treatments and I still get very small patches of hair and they are very fine hair. It totally works for me. Fast and cheaper than going back for touch ups.

Ok, I saw this first advertised on t.v. and initially was skeptical. But, I found it sold at my local H.E.B. for $10 and so I bought it thinking it might actually work. Ok, first off it DID NOT DO ANYTHING!!!! Seriously I tried it as soon as I got in the car (I had just showered before the store), and I followed the instructions and...nothing. So then I started rubbing harder and then harder...NOTHING! This product doesn't do anything. It really sucks! I'm so ticked! Even IF it did work it would TAKE FOREVER to use on just 1 leg! Ridiculous!

THX guys for the heads up that this product does not really work, from what I have gathered here is that it is OK-ish on fine hair but no good on coarse hair. I have sensitive skin and there is no way that using something with a gritty surface would not cause a reaction on me, rash, redness, bumps. My thoughts after reading comments - a garbage product a waste of good money. The TV add very misleading.

Bought this for $12.95 at Walmart. I knew it wasn't going to be a good experience when I opened the package and the little 'pod' that holds the vibrating part was slid off the holder with a sticky goo all over. So I tried it anyway, and tried it and tried it and tried it. DOESN'T WORK! I hate shaving and was looking for a quicker, easier way to do it..... but, trust me.... save your hard-earned money and just use a shaver. I liked it. Kind of. But I noticed the next day I had many ingrown hairs that were already infected. Very itchy. I'd say, if you are on the go, just shave your legs with a razor, it takes a long time for the Smooth Away to actually buff away the hairs, It took me almost 45 minutes to get rid of all the hair on my small set of legs. I don't recommend this product for busy people that don't have much time. But if you are on a vacation from work or school and have a night with your friends/buddies, take your time.

I purchased this product at a warehouse store for my daughter. She is only 10 and too young to start shaving (in my opinion) but really has a problem with the dark, thick hair on her legs. She has bugged me for months and I finally broke down yesterday and decided to try this. I was very pleasantly surprised that it actually worked! The pad is velvety soft and she kept saying she felt like she was being pampered in a spa while I worked on her legs. It does take a fair amount of time, as the hair is normally not removed on the first couple of strokes, more like the 3rd or 4th pass. However, it was nonabrasive, easy, and left her legs baby smooth. There was absolutely no redness or irritation. I'm sure the trick is to not press too hard. I also tried it on the peach fuzz on my upper lip and it worked great. I'm thrilled to find a hair removal product that is fairly cheap and actually works! =)

Luckily i did not purchase mine from TV. I bought mine from walmart for $10. While it DOES make your legs smooth, it takes LONGER than shaving. and sometimes i get burn marks. Also, the smell of the paper + the heat is GROSS. it smells like burning skin, and the hair grows back within a day or two. The only good thing is that it DOES remove the hair (after a while of rubbing) and that it makes you legs smooth for a day or two- and CAUTION!!- it makes your legs powdery after use so make sure you dust off before wearing any clothes or sitting down on anything, or you'll get "skin-powder stuff everywhere.

I bought this product last week 5/7/09 from Walmart. I wanted to try something other than razors or hair removing lotions so I bought it for a little over $10.00. I used it on my legs just as the instructions said, and I was initially satisfied with the results. The following day I noticed rashes with tiny red itchy bumps on several areas on my legs and the hair on my legs were already growing back. It's not worth the money.

I bought this at Wal-Mart for $12. I was very pleasantly surprised, it really does work! Even on my very very coarse leg hair, it took it off and left my legs silky smooth. The only complaint I have is the pads do not last very long at all. I had to use 2 pads to do my legs and I cannot find replacements for them, so if I want more I'll have to buy another kit. Also, I bought the "Smooth Away Vibe" version with a little vibrating attachment on the pad - it's a waste. I found the pads to work much better without the vibration. Overall it's a great alternative to shaving, which always gives me a bad rash of razor bumps within a day. I had no irritation after using Smooth Away. As soon as I was finished I used body cream on my legs, it got rid of the ashy feeling and left them very soft.

Some don't seem to like this product, but it really worked for me. My skin was a little sore and dry afterwards, but not as bad as shaving and without the razor burn. Plus, a lot of that burning can be soothed with the moisturizer like it says (unless you pushed way too hard). Sensitive skin is what is going to cause the irritation, moreso than coarse hair. I have coarse hair and it works fine. I'm still not risky enough to try the underarms, because common sense tells me that the sandpaper-type material and the supersensitive skin isn't a good combo. Just use sense when deciding to get this. I love it and I'll continue to use it... but I'm sticking to a razor for the super sensitive areas. And yes, a big con is that unless you go through Ebay replacement pads are hard to find. But they supposedly say that the hair will get thinner after each use... Gonna wait it out for those results.

My mother-in-law bought this for me. I am a little mixed on it. It did work for me - I first used it on my legs. It does take longer than shaving would and I would prefer just to use a razor. The few days after I used it - my legs were so itchy and they stung. I think it takes off the first few layers of skin along with the hair! I have been using it on my upper lip area as it is better than bleaching or waxing. It did not make my upper lip area sting but it has been awfully dry and peely. So, all in all - a little bit good and a little bit bad. I just pray that my mother-in-law didn't order it and have to pay all that shipping and handleing!

I got mine at Walgreens for 10 bucks. It takes a bit of time but they totally work. I love them and haven't shaved my legs in maybe a month! The only con is that the pads don't last as long as they advertise, but they are amazing when they're fresh.

I absolutely love this product. I found it very easy to use. I use it before in the salon before a pedicure. I did break out in a rash once. I think it was because I took a shower right afterward. I learned to use it on very dry skin and then use lotion.

Do Not Buy Listen, the Smooth-Away works. If you spend 20 minutes on a 3-inch-wide portion of your body ... it takes off the hair, and your skin is so smooth. Then that night, you feel as if you've been rolling in poison ivy. Then come the little red bumps. Then they go away after about a day, and you're sooo impressed with your smooth skin, until the next day, when your poor, damaged skin begins to try to heal itself by forming hundreds of tiny scabs which, in fact, looks and feels just like dry skin. Then the hair begins to grow back the next day. So just don't throw your $ away on this and if someone gives you one for free, DO NOT use it! My skin is Still healing after 10 days! And the hair is almost all the way grown out again!

First was shocked by the outrageous S&H charge that they don't mention,,,around $30 after they try to get you to buy more than the $14.99. I sent the original package back without opening it for a full refund,, and received the $14.99 box. They only refunded half my original order which totaled $67 and change,,,I had to call and ask for the rest of my refund,, while they went ahead and charged my the additional $28 whatever for the second order. The product works,, but YOU have to work!! I could have buffed and polished 10 cars for what it took to do both lower legs. It didn't hurt though! I need a Massage now!!!

I just bought this product today at Wallgreens, $9.99. Ive been reading everyone's comments on here and almost everyone had a negative response to the smooth away. I tried it earlier on my arms and i have never shaved or waxed my arms or anything and my arm hair is pretty thick, it took longer and didnt get as much hair off as i wanted but still left my arms feeling soft and smooth. I actually like it. i think that some of you are not using it correctly or something. But the bad thing is it left my arms irritated and red like if you were to just shave..soo that sux but its going away slowly. I havent tried it on my face but i am going to later tonite. hopefuly it doesnt leave the red irritation on my face like it did on my arms. I think it does ok for the price i paid. noithing insanely amaaazing but its ok!

I just got this today and it works very well! Not many TV products work, so for something on TV, it's great. It doesn't remove all the hair, and takes a long time, but it does work. However, if you have thick hair like me, you need like 2 pads per leg! I do recommend this product. I hope this helps! p.s. put very slight pressure! if to much pressure is applied, the skin can get irritated. Slight pressure will do the trick!

  •   from PA wrote this review:

Smooth Away is a rip-off, especially the shipping and handling charges. After seeing the infomercial for Smooth Away for weeks, I thought maybe it would be safer than my tweezers and electric shaver. I am very uncoordinated from multiple sclerosis. I decided to try it. I ordered online at www.GetSmoothAway.com. They advertise buy one, get a second one free, only pay the shipping and handling fee, which according to miniscule print at the bottom of page was $6.99. On December 30, 2008 Smooth Away charged my credit card $60.93. I knew I had allowed an up sell of a shave minimizing lotion, so I was expecting maybe a maximum of $35 with everything. I thought they had duplicated the order. After the New Year I repeatedly called 800-765-2994 listed beside Smooth Away in my credit card account, which rang to Idea Village and listed office hours. After several days of trying, I was annoyed but considered they must have taken a particularly long New Years break. I had located another number 866-655-4341 on their web site and was trying it, also, but all it yielded was a receptionist who put me on hold until my back hurt. I figured I was lost in their phone system. My order arrived in a 8 X 6 X 4" box weighing a couple pounds for two Smooth Away systems, extra pads and hair minimizing lotion. For this they charged me $34.97 plus $25.96 shipping and handling. After I disputed the shipping charge at my credit card, I was told to call Smooth Away again then fax my story to the dispute department. The hours I had spent on it for two weeks had already passed what the energy level of MS allows. I hibernated for a few days, stretches of bed days being the pattern with this thing sometimes. I could not spend any more energy on this. I called my credit card, canceled the dispute, and counted it up to the fatigue, judgment impairment and short-term memory impairment of MS. The product did not exfoliate. It felt smoother, but it shredded the skin, and left it flaking in blotches. A rough wash cloth exfoliates much better than Smooth Away. The shave minimizing product stung. The hair appeared to grow at the same rate as always. After using the system, my skin was too sensitive to the touch for me two tweeze all the noticeable hairs Smooth Away failed to remove. Smooth away only removes the fine, baby hairs. And contrary to their infomercial, Smooth Away could not remove some of their hairs I could definitely feel. If the web site had not attempted to deceive the user with ambiguous verbiage, I would have understood the shipping would be almost four times the number that is barely visible at the bottom of the order page. And I never would have placed the order. My advice is try an abrasive product available in a store or beauty parlor. Definitely do not pay $25 to ship and handle something the size of a modest jewelry box.

The product works fairly well on hair that is not very long. I had maybe 3-4 days worth of hair growth on my legs and the product worked fine. It left my legs feeling nice and smooth with no visible hair. However, the product did not seem to work very well on long or coarse hair. It simply would not budge the hair at all. I also noticed that the smaller pad was practically useless.

I think smooth away works great! when i started doing the three clockwise circular motions and three counterclockwise it didn't do it right that sec. but after repeating it like 5 times its worked. its important that you don't do it hard so it wont damage your skin.Just do it softly but not to to soft otherwise it will take longer. once i was finished with my legs it felt incredibly smooth! My skin was gray but that's because it was exfoliating too. You just need to put on lotion after.Just don't do smooth away when your skin is wet or you have just put lotion or oitments on it. I tried it on my arms and did the same. I love the smooth away product and would recemend it to anyone, I've already told all my friends! I bought it at an exhibition. Feel lucky that I didn't have to deal with the ordering nightmare other people had to deal with. The product does remove hair and leaves the skin smooth because it also exfoliates. It all depends where you use it. On my legs, it was fine, especially on my thighs because they have finer hair. Only very slight irritation occurred and went away quickly. HOWEVER!!! When I used it on my face, OMG, I scraped the living lights out of it. The skin above the upper lip was burning and was inflamed and broken in places for several days after. It was painful and unsightly. Never again will I use it on my face. But I will use on my legs until I run out. Then, back to the usual waxing/shaving.

I see a lot of bad reviews on this here...mostly because of shipping charges and the like. I got mine at CVS for $10 and let me say WOW! I have really hairy Italian arms...it freaking worked great! The pads don't last as long as they say, I find for the first time use it's better if you trim the hair down...but I used it on my upper lip too and it worked wonderfully! No pain at all, a bit time consuming but my skin was way soft after I was done! I find that if you go on Ebay you can get replacements for very cheap AND if you rinse your pad off after you use it you can get more usage out of it too! I would recommend this product to anyone with unwanted hair! Beats the heck out of bleaching!

Complete waste of money and time. Paid $10 at CVS, used it exactly as directed and only felt a very very slight reduction in leg stubble. That was after rubbing in circles for several minutes in one small spot. Who has time for that? Also, the "crystallized" pads or whatever feel totally smooth to me. I don't feel any abrasion whatsoever. It's like rubbing a piece of paper around on your leg. Wish I hadn't gotten suckered in...don't fall for it like I did.

This is my FIRST SCAM that has happened to me. When ordering online they do not tell you they are charging your card double shipping! (for one tiny box) I received the Smooth Away and it did not work AT ALL. I called to return it and they said they would NOT credit the $14. in shipping. Total scam to collect that inflated shipping charge from all orders.

Shipping and handling wasn't on site and was way over priced. By directions, it doesn't work. When I used it longer than advised it does work - but on an area smaller than the pad. The pads don't last for one leg. (Sandpaper would probably work better.) It's a waste of time and money.

I got mine at walgreens for $9.99 and as soon as I got home I tried. It works well with thin hairs but not with thick hairs. Also it does hurt you since you rub it in circular motion until your hair gets cut off from rubbing. My upper lips are burning and I wasn't even rubbing it hard. I REGRET of purchasing this product. Save yourselves 10 bucks and just get it waxed!

At first I thought this was going to be a great product. As far as my legs are concerned it wasn't too bad....just took a lot longer than a razor. I then tried it on my face. It does not remove facial hair. Two days later my legs were dry and flaky and my face was a mess. It looked like dry, cracked dirt and then it broke out! What a mess! I can just imagine it removing underarm hair!! What a joke!

  •   from NY wrote this review:

I bought it for $10 at Walgreens to try and only used it on my legs. They are just large gray pads similar to fine sandpaper. It took a long time and constant circular motions but in the end, it worked and the hair was gone. The large pads are a bit awkward to make circular motions over so I had to go over areas multiple times. My legs also feel smoother from the exfoliation. But I would say that shaving would be much quicker and will probably go that route in the future instead.

I bought this at Walgreens for about 10 dollars. I tried the small applicator on my face and the large on my leg. The small did not work at all and it really hurt! The large works ok on the leg but it took me about 20 mins to do one leg and I am a small lady. It left a lot of hair and does not do nearly as well as shaving and it is not "pain free". I did follow all directions carefully. I really regret buying this product!

DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT. It is completely false advertising. It is absolutely not painless. I did it on my upper lip and my underarms. My upper lip has a red/chapped look now, and all the hair isn't even gone. It does NOT work on any course underarm or bikini line hair. My underarms burned so bad after I used this. I could not put deodorant on without feeling like I was literally on fire and the hair is still there. Save your money, buy a razor!

The commercials made this product look quick and easy to use. The buy 1,get 1 free with only shipping and handling sounded good, but that amount is never stated. I found that the product does not work as demonstrated and I was charged $14.00 for s&h for the free one, so it's not free. The pads are really just super fine sandpaper. I tried a salon fingernail board and got better results. They have a return policy, but it does not cover the s&h of the 'free' one, so it's not worth the effort to return. I wish I'd checked this site first before wasting my money.

I have not recently bought these, but this exact item has been around at least since the 1980s, when I tried them. Think of sandpaper to defuzz your skin. You have to use a lot of sandpaper to remove all the hair, and you're naturally going to get your skin in the process. It only got down to stubble and scraped off a fair bit of my skin. After being in pain on one leg, I tried the other and was more gentle and hardly removed any hair at all. There's no easy way to remove hair, but waxing is the best I've found.

DO NOT USE IT ON YOUR UNDERARMS! Yikes! (It's OK for the little blond peach fuzz on your face, then make sure you use Neosporin or something before you go to bed.) But for the normal hair on your legs or underarms, it rubs the skin raw along with SOME of the hair. More painful than waxing by far.

News Flash- in case you've seen or ever wanted to try "Smooth Away" instead of shaving. They truly do remove the hair but leave your armpits feeling literally rugburned. Aloe vera to try & alleviate & it burned like the dickens. Spraying deoderant afterward - big Ouch! No wonder they mention they exfoliate your skin. My ankles have little hive like marks all over after using them. Initially I'd have given them a good review. 1/2 hour after using them that fresh rugburn feeling set in. 1 day later need to shave & unable to due to skin irritation. My skin has never been that sensitive until - sandpaperish Smooth Away product used.

The shipping prices were egregious, and I was on the phone forever with the fear that if I were to hang up I would be charged for items I did not want (and I'm sure I would have been since the automated system kept trying to get me to purchase the other items). Once I received the smooth away pads my daughters and I tried them and they were horrible. They only partially removed the finer hair after intense buffing which was painful. I strongly suggest that no one purchase this product. Shaving is a much better option.

I bought the product at Sally's Beauty Supply to use on my lip for the light colored fuzz , and I followed directions precisely. I used it on my upper lip and as indicated it turned red. I used the milk on a cotton swab as recommended. This morning I woke up and my entire upper lip was severly swollen and burned! I have sensitive skin and was very cautious NOT to apply excessive pressure. I had to gently apply concealer over it in order to go to work, and I took Benedryl to try and minimize the pain and swelling. Needless to say I took it out of the drawer and threw it away!

This product does not remove hair quickly or pain free. Tried the small pad on the peach fuzz on my face & upper lip. It took a good 15 minutes of constant circular motions before the hair came off. I used lite pressure just like the instructions state. The next day my face is irritated, had small bumps & feels rough. It's been 4 days & the irritation has gone away but still have bumps & the rough feeling. The shipping/handling charge is very expensive. My product total was 34.97 & s/h 25.96! Very disappointing. So if I send it back, I have to eat the s/h plus the cost to send it back. This product is not a winner.

It is a small, lightweight box, yet I was charged $27.96 Shipping & Handling - which was NOT mentioned by TV/phone order department. BTW, it cost me $6.95 to ship it back UPS. (I called their custome service number 4 times first, but was cut off every time.) Product does work, though take quite a long time using it (5-10 minutes on upper lip area), and they recommend longer (leg?) hair be "trimmed first". All in all, a very negative experience.
