  1. Betty Chiang from CA writes about Buttoneer:

I started wearing dress pants for work and noticed that one by one my buttons were coming loose. Rather than sew them together I found Buttoneer refills at the local drug store but no actual Buttoneer. Eventually I was able to get my hands on the actual machine and spent about $25 total. The stupid thing didn't work. I tried a few more times and 7 tabs later I finally got it to work through a simple hem. It claims to be "invisible!" but the thick "clear" plastic is so fat that it shows white and is extremely obviously and tacky on any dark colored items when hemming. As for buttons, the button stays on... so long as it isn't used. Once I tried using the actual button as, well, a button, the "secure" hold of the plastic broke through. I now have little piece of white plastic sticking out of my pants where I tried to get it to work and where it snapped. I'm very unhappy and after all that time of trying to get this to work I could have just sewed my buttons on.

If I could give the Buttoneer no stars I would. What a piece of CRAP !! The fasteners are almost impossible to load, they jam constantly and are effective about 5% of the time. A huge waste of time and money----Don't waste yours

  4. Bobby from Tn writes about Buttoneer:

I bought my first Buttoneer years ago. I have used it religously. IT WORKS GREAT! There are limitations, but for 99% of the buttons that I replace it works.

I bought It years ago and come back to it every now and then but I never know why because it is worthless. I am only giving it one star because I am forced to!!!

  6. Jack from Ca writes about Original Buttoneer:

Bought this thinking that it would work like the old one I had many years ago which worked Great. This new version is absolutely a piece of junk. I'm being polite. Used almost all of the fasteners attempting to get 1 button attached. Made many holes in the shirt and no buttons attached. I let 4 other people read the instructions, and attempt the attachment, NONE could do it. All the users are very mechanically inclined. Sure we see how it should work, but the length of fasteneners could at best attach to a very thin fabric. Coats, Jackets as advertized is an absolute stretch, or mis advertizing. I would NOT recommend this to anyone. Wish someone could find and remake the original style buttoneer, which used a stud style fastener with varing lengths. This one uses a horseshoe style. DO NOT BUY THIS PIECE OF JUNK!

  7. BRENDA ROBERSON from GEORGIA writes about BUTTONEER:

I JUST RECEIVED THE BUTTONEER AND AT FIRST I THOUGHT IT DID NOT WORK. AFTER 4 TRIES I FINALLY GOT IT RIGHT. IT WAS NOT THE PRODUCT, I WAS NOT LOADING THE PLASTIC HOOK CORRECTLY. NOW EVERY TIME I TRY IT I GET A PERFECT BUTTON. I CAN'T PULL THE BUTTONS OFF.

Absolute junk. Button came flying off somewhere - lost. Now I have a shirt with a missing button, and the button itself is lost. Thanks, Buttoneer.

  9. DavidMcColley from UT writes about Buttoneer:

Not in the least bit intuitive. I simply cannot figure this out. If there were logical instructions or a picture you could see without a microscope, maybe I could make it work. As is, I just flushed my $$ down the john.

It stinks - it doesn't work. I had a buttoneer over 30 years ago that was really great. They went and redeisgned it and now they have a piece of junk. don't waste your money. ZERO stars from me

  11. Jeanne from WI writes about Buttoneer:

Like other reviewers, I have had an "old" Buttoneer for at least 25 years. It was great, but I couldn't find the fasteners any more, so ordered the new one. It is worthless!!!! Something wrong in the design of the fasteners. We all tried and only suceeded in making many holes in the material, but NO attached buttons. However, I must admit that I ordered mine off Ebay and got a "knock-off". Be careful when you order. 1 Star because they "made me".

  12. Tim from Texas writes about Buttoneer:

I never owned an old Buttoneer but always thought they were a good idea. Bought one last year and love it! It took me a couple of tries to master the technique but once I did it made flawless repairs that lasted much longer than sewing and so much easier to perform. Great product!!!
